Title: A Simultaneous Spectrometer with Photodiode Array Detector and Low Power Radiofrequency Capacitively Coupled Plasma  Source

Abstract: The main figures of merit of a simultaneous spectrometer with photodiode array (PDA) detector and low power (275 W; 27.12 MHz) and Ar consumption (0.4 L min-1) radiofrequency capacitively coupled plasma source for simultaneous determination of some alkaline and alkaline-earth elements (Li, Na, K, Ca) are presented. The torch has a molybdenum tubular electrode and a single (SRT) or double ring electrode (DRT) distanced at 60 mm. The simultaneous spectrometer equipped with PDA detector (200.1100 nm) has a 95 mm Paschen-Runge mount. For the best geometry of the plasma (DRT configuration), the limits of detection are: 30 (Li); 40 (Na); 60 (K) ng mL-1 and 210; 100; 210; 90 ng mL-1 for Ca(II) 393.3 nm, Ca(I) 422.7 nm, CaOH 554 nm and CaOH 622 nm. The recovery degree of Ca in certified plasma sera was 99.4±1.4 % and RSD 3.8-4.9%. In the determination of Ca in five blood samples the RSD was 2.9-4.4%.

Key words: atomic emission spectrometry, capacitively coupled plasma, simultaneous spectrometer, alkaline and alkaline-earth elements determination
