The Institute develops fundamental and applicative research in optoelectronics, analytical chemistry and mechanical engineering, well connected to the main scientific directions of the programs in the European Research Area and to the specific themes of the national research strategy.
The institute's mission is to develop materials for optoelectronics and to engineer optoelectronic devices for nurturing them through to industrial applications, as well as to use innovative optoelectronics based techniques for the art restoration and for environmental monitoring/remediation domains.
The current RDI activities are oriented to:
- Optoelectronic Engineering and Analytical Instrumentation Applications:
- Optoelectronic Materials and Advanced Surface Processing
- Optoelectronic Techniques for Art Restoration
- Optoelectronics Techniques for Environment Assessment and Remediation
- Renewable source of energy
- High pressure technologies
The activities in the Institute are aiming to:
- stimulate the cooperation in research by collaboration with the universities and other higher degree institutions;
- develop the international collaboration, in EU and bilateral funded projects;
- strengthen the institutional capacity building by postgraduate education (MSc and PhD students included in the research teams), staff development, curriculum design, research and development;
- use the legal frame for an efficient know-how and technology transfer to public institutions and companies;
- increase the scientific out‐puts, widening their dissemination and promoting research valorization;
- upgrade the research facilities;
- create a stimulating and competitive environment, researcher-friendly by an up-dated management system.
