The team focuses on synergistic use of laboratory, in situ and remote sensing (active and passive)optoelectronic techniques, as well as modeling tools for various environmental applications. Over the years, state-of-the-art fixed and mobile laboratories have been set up, involving lidars, satellite imagery, microwave radiometry, laser induced fluorescence, particle and gas analyzers, mass spectrometry. More sophisticated instruments, combined with increased experience and expertise, led to new and complex scientific subjects, starting from soil, air and water quality assessment to climatology. We have strong links with academia, focusing not only on collaborative research projects, but also on specific training programmes for students (MSc. and PhD): master and doctoral practice inside our own laboratories, hands-on training during summer schools and field campaigns, participation to workshops and international projects of young scientists from University of Bucharest, "Al. I. Cuza" University of Iasi, "Babes-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, "Politehnica" University of Timisoara.
